MSP Steel & Power Ltd reported a strong turnaround in FY2026 with standalone net profit of Rs 338.5 crore versus a loss of Rs 287.1 crore in FY2025. Full year revenue declined marginally from Rs 2,905.2 crore to Rs 2,843.0 crore (approx 2% decline). The company achieved this turnaround primarily due to significant reduction in finance costs (down 41% to Rs 474.97 crore) after completing its debt restructuring and paying Rs 101.63 crore as final Right of Recompense. Deferred Tax Asset of Rs 473.74 crore was recognized based on Section 43B deduction claim. The Board also approved a Rs 500 crore capex programme to expand steel manufacturing capacity at Raigarh facility, increasing sponge iron capacity by 37%, billet by 38%, rolling mill by 42%, and power plant by 25%.
The company has turned profitable after restructuring completion and cost reduction, which is positive for shareholders. The capex programme signals growth ambitions but will require significant debt funding. Revenue decline is a minor concern for steel sector outlook.
