NALCO reported its best-ever financial performance in FY25, with revenue from operations hitting a record ₹16,788 crores (up 28% year-on-year) and net profit surging 158% to ₹5,325 crores. Earnings per share rose to ₹28.99 from ₹11.22, and the Board announced a 210% dividend amounting to ₹1,928.47 crore. On the operational side, the company set new records in bauxite excavation (76.48 lakh tonnes), aluminium production (4.60 lakh tonnes), domestic metal sales (4,54,600 MT), and captive power generation (6,641 MU). Growth projects are advancing, with the 5th Stream (1 MTPA alumina refinery) 75% complete and targeted for commissioning in early FY27, alongside a 0.5 MTPA smelter expansion at Angul and the Pottangi Bauxite Mines expected to start operations in FY27. CAPEX of ₹1,396 crore was invested in FY25, and CSR spending reached ₹61.30 crore. The Chairman also disclosed that the Board is currently not in compliance with required composition norms, with the matter taken up with the Administrative Ministry for early appointment of Independent Directors.
Record profits and a 210% dividend reward shareholders handsomely, while the strong growth pipeline positions NALCO to benefit from India's projected 7.6% annual aluminium demand growth through 2030. The Board composition non-compliance is a governance concern being addressed with the government.
