Neogen Chemicals' board approved a planned leadership transition effective October 1, 2025: founder and Chairman & MD Haridas Kanani will retire and take the honorary role of Chairman Emeritus, while his son Dr. Harin Kanani continues as Managing Director. Anurag Surana, an existing non-executive director, will become the new non-executive Chairman, and T.C.N. Saikrishnan joins as Executive Director for five years. Q1 FY26 standalone revenue rose to Rs 184.58 crore (up about 4.7% year-on-year) with profit after tax of Rs 14.23 crore, while consolidated profit after tax dipped to Rs 10.26 crore from Rs 11.47 crore a year ago. The board also approved an additional Rs 125 crore corporate guarantee for wholly owned subsidiary Neogen Ionics, set the 36th AGM for September 26, 2025, and fixed September 19, 2025 as the record date for the FY25 final dividend. The company received Rs 80 crore in on-account insurance payments toward the Rs 348 crore Dahej fire loss, with Rs 254 crore still pending.
The succession appears orderly and continuity-friendly, with the founder staying on as Chairman Emeritus and family management in place, which should limit governance concerns. Shareholders should track insurance recoveries from the Dahej fire and the new Executive Director's contribution to growth.
