Nesco Limited has surrendered 2 of the 3 sites originally awarded by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for developing wayside amenities on the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway. The surrender was due to significant feasibility and viability challenges identified during joint inspection and was accepted by NHLML with no financial penalty. The original 3-site order has been scaled down to a single site, with revised figures of approximately Rs. 75 crore in development cost, around Rs. 115 crore in estimated annualised revenue from year 4, and Rs. 5.53 crore in annual lease rent. All other terms of the original award remain unchanged.
The downsizing from 3 sites to 1 substantially reduces Nesco's long-term revenue potential from this project, though the exit came without penalties and preserves the most viable site. Investors may view this negatively given the loss of two-thirds of the original scope, but the clean exit avoids any financial liability from NHLML.
