Neuland Laboratories reported a sharp year-on-year decline in Q1FY26 results, with total income falling 32.4% to Rs. 300.6 crore and EBITDA dropping 67.3% to Rs. 42.1 crore. EBITDA margin contracted by 1,490 basis points to 14%, while profit after tax plunged 86.1% to Rs. 13.7 crore. Management attributed the weak quarter to lower customer order flow but maintained its outlook for healthy growth in FY26, citing expected strong performance from commercial molecules and a significant influx of new orders. The company highlighted growing interest from biotech clients, an EIR for Unit-2 post FDA inspection, and announced a Rs. 254 crore capex to expand peptide synthesizer capacity from 0.5 KL to 6.37 KL. Net debt remained in a net cash position at Rs. -164.7 crore, though working capital days rose to 145 from 107 in the previous quarter.
The steep YoY decline in revenues and profits is a negative short-term signal, but management's confidence in order pipeline recovery and continued capex on high-growth peptides may limit downside. Shareholders should watch for execution on the new order pipeline and margin recovery in upcoming quarters.
