NHPC Limited has signed an Implementation Agreement with Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDCL) on 27.03.2026 to develop two hydroelectric projects in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir: 240 MW Uri-I Stage-II and 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II, taking the total to 500 MW of new hydro capacity. The projects will be built and operated by NHPC on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 40 years. This follows NHPC's earlier communication dated 20.02.2026 on the same subject. The projects are located in J&K, where NHPC already has an existing operational presence.
This is a positive capacity addition for NHPC, adding 500 MW to its development pipeline and strengthening its hydro portfolio in J&K. The long 40-year BOOT concession provides revenue visibility, though actual earnings will depend on construction timelines and tariff approvals. Investors should track execution milestones for these projects in upcoming quarters.
