Niva Bupa's board on May 7, 2025 approved its audited Q4 and FY25 standalone financial results, which received an unmodified opinion from joint statutory auditors (S.R. Batliboi & Co. LLP and T R Chadha & Co. LLP). For FY25, Gross Premium Written rose about 21% YoY to Rs. 6,76,223 lakhs and Net Premium Written grew around 21% to Rs. 5,36,943 lakhs. Profit After Tax jumped roughly 161% YoY to Rs. 21,352 lakhs, with Basic EPS rising to Rs. 1.22 from Rs. 0.51. The Solvency Ratio improved to 3.03x from 2.55x, but the Combined Ratio worsened to 101.22% and the Incurred Claim Ratio rose to 61.22%, reflecting a wider underwriting loss of Rs. 24,976 lakhs (vs Rs. 19,628 lakhs). Operating cash flows were strong at Rs. 1,65,416 lakhs, while accumulated losses in the balance sheet stood at Rs. 71,845 lakhs. The auditors flagged an Emphasis of Matter noting the company has applied to IRDAI for forbearance on breaching the Expenses of Management limit for FY25, approval of which is still pending.
Strong topline growth and a sharp jump in profit are positive for shareholders, but rising claims ratio, wider underwriting losses, and the pending IRDAI nod on the EOM limit breach remain watchpoints. The emphasis-of-matter paragraph on EOM forbearance is the key item investors should track, as rejection could trigger regulatory or financial consequences.
