NLC India Limited has been granted a Composite Licence by the Mineral Resources Department, Government of Chhattisgarh for two mineral blocks — Semhardih Phosphorite & Limestone Block and Raipura Phosphorite & Limestone Block in Balod District. The licence, dated April 24, 2026, allows the company to carry out detailed geological exploration in these blocks. This follows NLCIL emerging as the Preferred Bidder in the Tranche-V auction of Critical and Strategic Minerals conducted by the Ministry of Mines in May 2025, and subsequent completion of performance security and Letter of Intent formalities. The blocks are located in Chhattisgarh and are part of India's push to secure critical mineral resources.
This is a forward-looking development — the licence enables NLCIL to begin geological exploration but does not yet generate revenue. Shareholders should note that actual mining and production could take years, and the long-term value depends on the quality and quantity of mineral reserves discovered.
