NLC India's joint venture NUPPL (51% NLC India, 49% UPRVUNL) has successfully synchronized the 660 MW Unit-2 of the 1,980 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Project in Uttar Pradesh with the 765 kV grid on July 20, 2025, ahead of schedule. This is a key step before the unit's Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). Unit-1 of the project has been operational since December 2024, and Unit-3 is expected to be commissioned in FY 25-26. Once fully operational, the project is expected to deliver 31.68 million units of power, with 1,487.28 MW allocated to Uttar Pradesh and 492.72 MW to Assam. The plant uses supercritical technology along with FGD, SCR, and Zero Liquid Discharge systems for environmental compliance.
Positive for shareholders — Unit-2's synchronization brings NLC India closer to full capacity utilization at Ghatampur, which will add meaningful revenue and earnings once COD is declared. Timely commissioning ahead of schedule reflects strong project execution and should support long-term growth visibility.
