NMDC Steel Ltd has reported a complete turnaround from losses to profitability. For FY26, revenue grew 60.4% to ₹13,641.81 crore from ₹8,503.05 crore in FY25. The company posted a net profit of ₹58.72 crore compared to a loss of ₹2,373.78 crore in FY25. Q4 FY26 was particularly strong with revenue of ₹3,879 crore and net profit of ₹391.91 crore. Operating margin improved significantly from negative 20.19% in FY25 to positive 11.76% in FY26. Borrowings reduced from ₹5,897.64 crore to ₹4,601.94 crore, with debt equity ratio improving from 0.45 to 0.35. The statutory auditors issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial results.
The company has successfully turned around from heavy losses to modest profitability with strong revenue growth and margin expansion. However, the absolute profit margin remains thin at 0.43% for FY26. The significant reduction in debt and improving leverage ratios are positives for credit profile.
