NMDC Ltd reported iron ore production of 4.64 million tonnes (MT) for April 2026, up 16% from 4.00 MT in April 2025. Sales came in at 3.68 MT versus 3.63 MT year-on-year, a marginal 1.4% increase. Chhattisgarh operations drove growth with production jumping 28% to 3.66 MT and sales rising 12% to 3.16 MT. Karnataka output declined to 0.98 MT (from 1.15 MT) with sales falling to 0.52 MT (from 0.81 MT). These are provisional figures for the first month of FY2026-27.
Overall production improvement is positive, though the sales-to-production gap (3.68 MT sold vs 4.64 MT produced) suggests inventory build-up. The Karnataka operations showed weakness which may need monitoring.
