NSE launches Nifty500 Ahimsa Index based on non-violence towards animals; check stocks, methodology, other key details

NSE Indices has launched the Nifty500 Ahimsa Index, a new thematic index tracking Nifty 500 companies whose business practices align with non-violence or Ahimsa principles towards animals. Developed with the Ahimsagain Foundation under its Ahimsa Investment Movement framework, the index includes only companies classified in the Green band, excluding Orange and Red band firms. The index has a base date of April 01, 2016, a base value of 1000, semi-annual reconstitution, and free-float market cap-based stock weights, and is expected to support ETFs, index funds, and other passive products.
