ONGC has successfully completed the capping operation at Well RDS#147A at its Rudrasagar field, bringing an end to a gas blowout that occurred on 12 June 2025 during service operations. ONGC's Crisis Management Team, along with experts from Cudd Pressure Control and local operations teams, safely removed the damaged Blowout Preventer (BOP) and installed a pre-positioned capping stack on the wellhead to contain and control the gas flow. The BOP was then closed, fully stopping the gas discharge. The entire operation was carried out without any injuries, fatalities, or fire incidents.
