Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Oil India's Numaligarh-Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) Capacity Augmentation Project in Guwahati on March 13, 2026. The 654-km multi-product pipeline's capacity has been raised from 1.72 MMTPA to 5.5 MMTPA, supporting the expansion of Numaligarh Refinery from 3.0 MMTPA to 9.0 MMTPA under the Government's Hydrocarbon Vision 2030. The brownfield project was completed at around ₹750 crore, under the approved cost of ₹860 crore, achieving significant savings. The upgrade involved converting pigging stations into intermediate pumping stations and augmenting facilities at both ends of the pipeline.
This strengthens Oil India's position in petroleum product transportation in the North-East, boosts operational efficiency, and aligns with the government's energy security push. The project coming in under budget is a positive operational signal for shareholders.
