Ola Electric has received ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) certification for its vehicles powered by the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell. ARAI certification is a mandatory regulatory approval required before vehicles can be sold or registered in India. This marks a key milestone in Ola Electric's in-house battery cell programme, as the company becomes one of the few Indian EV makers to get its own cells certified for use in production vehicles. The 4680 Bharat Cell is a larger-format lithium-ion cell developed under the company's PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme for advanced chemistry cell (ACC) manufacturing. With this certification, Ola Electric can now move towards commercial deployment of vehicles using its own battery technology.
Positive for the stock as it validates Ola Electric's indigenous battery technology and moves the company closer to commercial production using its own cells, which could improve margins and reduce dependence on external battery suppliers. This is a credibility boost for the company's 'Made in India' cell manufacturing ambitions.
