Ola Electric's board approved a Rs. 2,000 crore investment into two wholly-owned subsidiaries. Rs. 500 crore will go to Ola Cell Technologies (OCT), which makes batteries and cells, with FY25 turnover of Rs. 73 crore. Rs. 1,500 crore will go to Ola Electric Technologies (OET), which operates across the EV value-chain and manufacturing, with FY25 turnover of Rs. 4,717 crore. Both investments are via Compulsory Convertible Preference Shares at Rs. 10 per share. The transactions are arm's length and involve no change in control since both subsidiaries remain 100% owned. Investments must be completed by May 14, 2027.
The parent company is infusing significant capital into its EV and battery businesses to support operations and growth. Since these are existing wholly-owned subsidiaries, there is no change in ownership structure or shareholder dilution.
