AGTech Media Holdings, which holds 45% in First Games Technology Private Limited (FGTPL) — a step-down subsidiary of Paytm — has agreed to waive an outstanding loan of approximately ₹142 crore (including accrued interest) owed by FGTPL. The original loan was an unsecured External Commercial Borrowing of ₹131.94 crore extended in 2021 and 2022. FGTPL had earlier shut down its real money gaming business following regulatory changes. Paytm states it had already fully impaired its investment and shareholder loan in FGTPL, so this waiver has no adverse financial impact on the parent company.
Neutral to marginally positive for Paytm. Since the exposure was already fully written off, there is no P&L impact. The waiver simply removes a liability from FGTPL's books, strengthening the subsidiary's balance sheet without affecting Paytm's reported financials.
