Paytm has launched 'Pocket Money', a new feature enabling teenagers to make Paytm UPI payments without needing their own bank account. Parents or trusted family members can invite teenagers through UPI Circle by NPCI, set monthly spending limits (capped at ₹15,000 per month and ₹5,000 per transaction), and monitor transactions in real time. Safety controls include a ₹500 cap for the first 30 minutes and ₹5,000 cap within the first 24 hours after setup. The feature integrates with Paytm Spend Summary for automatic expense categorisation. It targets the large segment of teenagers making everyday payments for school canteens, metro rides, cabs, and shopping, moving these habits into a supervised digital format.
This product launch expands Paytm's addressable user base to teenagers without bank accounts, potentially driving increased transaction volumes and user acquisition among younger demographics, which could support long-term revenue growth.
