Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL), a clean-tech company in waste management, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Roorkee's Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy (HRED) to collaborate on biomass valorisation, biochar development, and environmental applications. The partnership will cover biomass characterisation and pretreatment, biochar and activated carbon production, torrefaction of biomass and municipal solid waste (MSW), and joint training, internships, and research projects. ORSL currently operates 400 tonnes per day (TPD) of waste processing capacity, of which only 50% is utilised, and already has existing research tie-ups with IIT Bombay, AGH University Poland, and the University of Birmingham.
This R&D collaboration strengthens ORSL's technology pipeline and credibility in the biochar and clean-energy space, but it is an academic MoU with no disclosed commercial value, so near-term stock impact is likely limited. Long-term, it could support the company's EPC and licensing ambitions if the research leads to commercially viable technologies.
