Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL), a cleantech and waste management company listed on BSE (Scrip Code 543997), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI), Pune, a globally unique research body in the sugar industry. The partnership focuses on joint R&D to convert agro-biomass, sugar industry waste, and sugarcane trash into high-value products and green energy, while also pursuing external funding from schemes run by DBT, DST, MNRE and MoEFCC. It includes joint consulting, validation of new bio-energy/biofuel technologies, seminars and academic programs, plus capacity building such as part-time PhD opportunities for ORSL staff and internships for VSI students. ORSL currently runs 400 tonnes per day of waste processing capacity (about 50% utilized) across its facilities and already collaborates with IIT Bombay, AGH University Poland and the University of Birmingham. The announcement was made on July 22, 2025, by Managing Director Sarang Bhand, who called it a 'landmark moment' for the company.
No immediate financial impact is expected, but the partnership strengthens ORSL's innovation pipeline in biofuels and waste valorisation, supporting its long-term growth and EPC business pursuits under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
