Orient Bell Limited held its Q1 FY26 earnings call on August 5, 2025. Net sales declined 3% year-on-year to INR 142.5 crores from INR 147.3 crores, driven entirely by lower average selling prices (ASP) due to aggressive trade discounting, while volumes remained flat. Gross margins improved by 50 basis points to 36.5% and consolidated EBITDA margins expanded by 60 bps to INR 5.6 crores, supported by tight manufacturing cost control. Capacity utilization stood at around 60%, with revenue potential of about INR 1,200 crores including associates. Management highlighted subdued industry demand, geopolitical uncertainty, and tariff wars impacting exports, but noted supply-side self-correction with around 39 Morbi units shutting down in the last quarter. The company introduced a new tile adhesives segment with no major capex planned and welcomed new CFO Anuj Arora. Marketing spend was 3.7% of revenue, focused on TV, digital, and brand building.
Margins are improving despite weak demand, but revenue continues to slide on price discounting. Stock price could remain under pressure until capacity utilization rises meaningfully and demand picks up; management signals margin expansion potential if utilization improves.
