Omkar Speciality Chemicals, which was admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) on December 5, 2022, has crossed a key milestone with the NCLT Mumbai Bench approving its resolution plan on July 31, 2025. Following this approval, the newly formed Monitoring Committee held its first meeting on August 13, 2025. The committee discussed the appointment of the Chairman, set its own fees and implementation costs, reviewed statutory compliances (ROC, GST, Income Tax, stock exchanges), and reviewed CIRP costs incurred so far. It also discussed the way forward for implementing the approved resolution plan and the status of an insurance claim.
This is a constructive update for shareholders, as the resolution plan has been approved and a Monitoring Committee is now actively steering implementation. However, shareholder outcomes will depend on the specific terms of the resolution plan — including any equity dilution, haircuts, or write-offs for existing shareholders.
