Paragon Finance Limited, a Kolkata-based non-banking finance company, reported audited results for FY25 with total income falling to about ₹279.85 lakhs from ₹363.24 lakhs a year ago — a drop of roughly 23%. Net profit for the year shrank sharply to ₹31.46 lakhs (about ₹0.74 per share) compared to ₹85.90 lakhs (₹2.02 per share) in FY24, mainly because fair value gains on investments slipped from ₹211.92 lakhs to ₹69.46 lakhs. The fourth quarter alone turned into a loss of ₹81.59 lakhs versus a ₹44.73 lakh profit in Q4 FY24. On the balance sheet, total assets stood at about ₹3,212 lakhs against borrowings of just ₹70.90 lakhs, and investments grew to ₹1,685.59 lakhs. Operating cash flow turned healthy and positive at ₹122.25 lakhs compared to a negative ₹542.45 lakhs last year. Statutory auditor Mandawewala & Co. issued an unmodified (clean) opinion, and the company also appointed Mrs. Rupal Patel as the new secretarial auditor.
Shareholders should note that headline profit nearly halved because the bulk of earnings came from market-driven fair value gains rather than core interest/dividend income, which makes results volatile. The balance sheet remains strong with minimal debt and comfortable net worth, but a significant chunk of lending activity is with director-linked and KMP-related entities, which investors may want to track closely.
