Vedanta Limited has allotted Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis, raising a total of ₹5,000 Crore. The issue is split into three series: Series 1 of ₹2,400 Crore (2,40,000 debentures), Series 2 of ₹1,750 Crore (1,75,000 debentures), and Series 3 of ₹850 Crore (85,000 debentures), each with a face value of ₹1,00,000. The NCDs are unsecured, redeemable, rated, and listed, and the allotment was approved by the Committee of Directors on June 5, 2025. This follows an earlier intimation dated May 30, 2025 regarding the issuance.
The ₹5,000 Crore NCD raise strengthens Vedanta's debt position and provides fresh capital, though the unsecured nature means bondholders rank below secured lenders. Shareholders should note the increase in overall leverage, but the listed and rated nature of the debentures suggests institutional investor confidence.
