PNC Infratech has won a major arbitration award of Rs. 485.28 Crores from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) related to the construction of the Agra Bypass four-lane project in Uttar Pradesh. The company had originally claimed Rs. 661.51 Crores including interest, while NHAI had filed counter-claims of Rs. 38.52 Crores, which were rejected by the tribunal. The award, published on 17 May 2025, also includes 12% per annum interest from the award date until actual payment. The tribunal comprised former Supreme Court judges, including a former Chief Justice of India, lending strong credibility to the decision.
Positive for shareholders — PNC has won a substantial award, strengthening its receivables and potential cash flows. However, actual financial benefit depends on successful realization of the amount, as NHAI may still appeal or delay payment, and the company has noted that financial implications will be known only upon collection.
