Power Grid's Committee of Directors approved three capital expenditure proposals totaling approximately ₹584 crore. The investments include: (1) Augmentation of a 500MVA transformer at Tuticorin-II GIS Sub Station at ₹132.06 crore (target: Feb 2028), (2) Installation of OPGW fiber optic communication systems in the Western Region at ₹308.49 crore (target: Sep 2028), and (3) Similar OPGW communication systems in the Eastern Region at ₹143.58 crore (target: Sep 2028). The projects cover grid infrastructure and communication network expansion across ISTS (Inter-State Transmission System) lines.
Total capex of ~₹584 crore is modest relative to Power Grid's large asset base. These are routine network augmentation and communication system upgrades. No material impact expected on near-term financials as costs are spread over 18-30 month timelines.
