Power Grid held an investor webinar where management raised FY26 capex guidance to Rs. 35,000+ crore (already achieved), up from earlier Rs. 32,000 crore guidance. Capitalization for FY26 is now expected at Rs. 25,000+ crore vs. earlier Rs. 22,000 crore guidance. For FY27, capex is guided at Rs. 37,000 crore (likely to exceed) and for FY28 at Rs. 45,000 crore, with capitalization of Rs. 30,000 crore and Rs. 35,000 crore respectively. Management outlined a Rs. 15 lakh crore total transmission opportunity by 2035, including Rs. 7.9 lakh crore domestic, Rs. 3-4 lakh crore international HVDC interconnections, and Rs. 4 lakh crore Brahmaputra basin projects. Current order book stands at Rs. 1.48 lakh crore including CWIP of Rs. 49,000 crore. 19 SPVs have been merged into 2, with 28 more SPV mergers in progress.
Positive for shareholders: upward revision of capex and capitalization guidance signals strong execution capability and robust order pipeline. The massive Rs. 15 lakh crore opportunity runway by 2035 provides exceptional long-term visibility for revenue growth, while SPV mergers should improve governance and operational efficiency.
