Power Grid Corporation has published a newspaper notice informing shareholders about a SEBI-mandated special window for converting physical share certificates into demat form. The window is open from February 5, 2026 to February 4, 2027 (one year). The initiative targets securities bought or sold before April 1, 2019, and also covers previously rejected or unattended transfer requests. Transferred securities will be credited only in demat mode and will face a one-year lock-in period preventing any transfer, lien-marking or pledge. Disputed cases and securities already transferred to IEPF are excluded from this facility. Shareholders can submit requests to the company or its registrar KFin Technologies.
Shareholders holding physical shares purchased before April 2019 now have a one-year window to dematerialise them. The mandatory one-year lock-in on transferred securities limits immediate liquidity but facilitates formalisation of share ownership.
