The Board of Directors of Power Grid Corporation of India has approved an investment of ₹705.30 Crore for the procurement of cold spare Transformers and Reactors, as approved in the 77th NRPC (Northern Region Power Committee) meeting. The project is scheduled to be implemented within 30 months from the date of approval (19th March 2026). Cold spares are backup equipment kept ready to quickly replace units that fail, helping maintain grid reliability. This is a routine operational/maintenance capex aimed at strengthening the northern region's transmission network reliability.
This is a relatively modest, routine maintenance capex for Power Grid and is unlikely to materially impact the stock price. It reinforces the company's focus on grid reliability in the northern region but does not represent a new growth driver.
