Prakash Industries Ltd reported total revenue of Rs 3,47,866 lakhs for FY2026, down from Rs 4,01,435 lakhs in FY2025, representing a 13.3% revenue decline. Profit after tax stood at Rs 33,314 lakhs compared to Rs 35,545 lakhs in the previous year, a 6.3% decline. The auditor issued a qualified opinion due to deferred tax liability of Rs 2,872 lakhs being adjusted against Securities Premium Account instead of accounting for it under Ind AS-12, following a court order. This qualification has been recurring since FY2016. The Board recommended a dividend of Rs 1.80 per equity share. The company extracted approximately 1 million MT of coal from its Bhaskarpara mine during the year.
The revenue and profit decline could put pressure on the stock price in the near term. The persistent qualified audit opinion since 2016 regarding deferred tax treatment may continue to concern investors about accounting practices, though the company cites a court order as justification.
