Prakash Woollen & Synthetic Mills Limited announced its audited standalone financial results for Q4 and the full financial year ended 31 March 2025. The statutory auditor, Harshit Mehrotra and Associates, issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the results, and the Audit Committee and Board approved the same on 30 May 2025. The company's profit before tax rose sharply from Rs. 18.51 lakhs to Rs. 144.70 lakhs year-on-year, though this was largely driven by an exceptional one-time gain of Rs. 1,053.63 lakhs from the sale of Land & Building and a write-back of Rs. 60.86 lakhs. Cash flow from operations improved to Rs. 711.33 lakhs (vs Rs. 547.06 lakhs), supported by a major reduction in inventory (Rs. 4,152.84 lakhs to Rs. 2,990.65 lakhs) and lower trade receivables. The business of blankets and made-up textiles is seasonal in nature, so quarterly figures are not fully representative.
The headline profit jump looks strong, but shareholders should note that core operating performance is heavily influenced by a one-time asset sale gain of over Rs. 10.5 crore. Underlying earnings power remains modest given the seasonal nature of the blanket business and reduced inventory levels. Watch for sustainability of profits in FY26 without such exceptional items.
