Devyani International Limited (DIL), one of India's largest quick-service restaurant (QSR) operators, has opened its first New York Fries (NYF) store in India at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. New York Fries is a premium Canadian French fry brand established in 1983, with 140 stores globally across Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the US, owned by Recipe Unlimited Corporation. The India menu will feature classic fries, hot dogs, loaded fries, loaded hot dogs, meal combos, and vegetarian options. DIL already operates over 2,000 stores across 280+ cities in India, Nigeria, Nepal, and Thailand, and is the largest Yum Brands franchisee (KFC, Pizza Hut) and sole Costa Coffee franchisee in India. The Chairman, Ravi Jaipuria, called this a major milestone in bringing a globally loved fries brand to Indian consumers.
This expansion adds a new premium international brand to DIL's portfolio, potentially driving incremental revenue from airport footfall. Positive for long-term growth narrative, though the immediate financial impact from a single store opening will be minimal. Strengthens DIL's airport F&B dominance and franchise-brand diversification strategy.
