Bata India announced its Q4 FY25 results on May 28, 2025. Revenue from operations stood at Rs. 787.77 crore, marginally lower than Rs. 797.67 crore in Q4 FY24. However, operating profit declined sharply to Rs. 37.41 crore from Rs. 58.27 crore in the year-ago quarter, reflecting continued demand headwinds. The company reported volume-led growth for the second consecutive quarter, driven by franchise and e-commerce channels, and expanded its retail network to 1,962 stores (adding 19 new franchise stores in the quarter). Gross inventory was reduced by 15% to Rs. 815.06 crore, signaling improved inventory management. The Board recommended a final dividend of Rs. 9 per share, taking the total FY25 dividend to Rs. 19 per share, amounting to Rs. 244.20 crore.
Despite stable revenues, the sharp drop in operating profit indicates margin pressure and weakening demand, which is negative for near-term stock sentiment. However, volume growth, aggressive inventory cleanup, franchise expansion, and a healthy total dividend of Rs. 19/share provide some positives for long-term investors.
