Rajshree Sugars has reported May 2025 operational data for its three sugar units (Varadarajnagar, Mundiyampakkam and Semmedu). At Unit I, May 2025 cane crushed fell sharply to 3,212 MTs from 28,999 MTs in May 2024, with sugar production dropping to 257 MTs from 2,527 MTs, though cumulative sugar sales rose to 11,223 MTs from 8,855 MTs. Season-to-date, Unit I cane crushed is down about 22% at 1,00,811 MTs versus 1,28,621 MTs last year. Units II and III show much larger season-on-season declines of roughly 45-48% in cane crushed and sugar production compared to the 2023-24 season, indicating a significantly weaker crushing year. Cane crushing typically ends by May, which partly explains the steep monthly drops across units.
The sharp decline in cumulative sugar output and cane crushed across all three units signals a weaker-than-previous season, which could pressure revenues and margins for shareholders. However, improved sugar sales volumes at Unit I suggest better offtake and inventory liquidation, which may partly offset the lower production.
