RBL Bank reported Q1 FY26 net profit of ₹200 crore, up 192% sequentially from a weak Q4 FY25 base, but down 46% year-on-year. Net interest income fell 13% YoY to ₹1,481 crore with margins compressing to 4.50%, while operating profit declined 18% YoY to ₹703 crore on lower unsecured advances and repo rate cuts. Other income grew a healthy 33% YoY to ₹1,069 crore, and the bank continued shifting toward secured retail (up 23% YoY) and commercial banking (up 32% YoY). Deposits grew 11% YoY to ₹1,12,734 crore with CASA up 11%, and asset quality remained stable with GNPA at 2.78% and NNPA improving to 0.45%. The bank is well capitalized with total CRAR at 15.59%, CET1 at 14.05%, and average LCR at 152%.
Mixed quarter — the strong sequential profit rebound from a low base is encouraging, but the YoY drop in NII, operating profit, and compressed NIMs may limit upside. Stable asset quality, healthy capital, and strong secured retail and commercial banking growth offer some reassurance to shareholders.
