Reliance Power has informed the stock exchanges that 12.50 crore outstanding warrants issued by the company have lapsed. This happened because warrant holders did not convert them into equity shares within the 18-month period allowed for conversion. As a result, the amount already paid by warrant holders towards these warrants has also been forfeited. The company is making this disclosure under SEBI's listing regulations as an update to its earlier communications from October 2024 and May 2025.
This is negative for the company as it loses expected equity infusion, meaning no fresh capital will come in from these warrants. For shareholders, it indicates weak interest from warrant holders in converting to shares, though the forfeited amount may be recognized as other income.
