Religare Enterprises has informed the stock exchanges that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has withdrawn the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) imposed on its material wholly-owned subsidiary, Religare Finvest Limited (RFL), with immediate effect. The CAP was originally imposed on RFL on January 18, 2018, following irregularities observed during an inspection of its position as on March 31, 2017. RBI cited the company's compliance with CAP conditions and a change in management and directors as the basis for the withdrawal. RFL has, however, been advised to continue complying with all prudential requirements. The decision is effective from July 23, 2025.
This is a significant positive development for Religare Enterprises and its shareholders. With the CAP lifted after roughly 7.5 years, RFL can now resume normal business operations as an NBFC, which had been restricted under the corrective plan. This removes a long-standing regulatory overhang and could support a re-rating of the stock.
