Rupa & Company, a leading innerwear/hosiery brand, reported weak Q1 FY26 results. Standalone revenue from operations fell to Rs 18,350 lakhs from Rs 20,616 lakhs in Q1 FY25, a decline of about 11%. Net profit dropped sharply to Rs 537.75 lakhs from Rs 1,025.37 lakhs, down roughly 48% year-on-year, with EPS at Rs 0.68 vs Rs 1.29. The company also booked a one-time exceptional expense of Rs 157 lakhs towards settlement with a creditor related to a surrendered licensed brand. During the quarter, Rupa divested its entire stake in wholly owned subsidiary Rupa Fashions Private Limited. Consolidated results showed a similar trend, with net profit of Rs 552 lakhs, down from Rs 1,046 lakhs. The statutory auditor (Singhi & Co.) issued an unqualified limited review report.
Sharply lower profits and a double-digit revenue dip signal margin pressure and weak demand in the quarter, which is likely to weigh negatively on the stock in the short term. Investors should watch for signs of demand recovery in coming quarters.
