Rupee opens 13 paise lower at 94.66 against US dollar

The Indian rupee opened 13 paise weaker at 94.66 against the US dollar on 18 June 2026 after the US Federal Reserve adopted a hawkish stance. Nine of 18 Fed policymakers projected at least one rate hike in 2026, well above market expectations, with Goldman Sachs having estimated only about three such members. Goldman Sachs, however, maintained its base case that the Fed will keep rates unchanged through the rest of the year despite the more aggressive tone.
