Rupee slips 9 paise as dollar demand keeps up pressure

The Indian rupee closed 9 paise weaker at 96.35 against the US dollar, down from its previous close of 96.26, as sustained dollar demand kept up pressure on the currency. The rupee touched an intraday low of 96.38 per dollar before RBI intervention prevented further weakness, according to traders.
