Sai Life Sciences announced its Bidar campus, which houses the company's flagship API manufacturing facility (Unit IV) and animal health API facility (Unit VI), now operates entirely on renewable power. This makes it the first Indian CRDMO site to achieve 100% renewable electricity usage. The transition was gradual, rising from 21% in 2020 to 57% in 2022, 89% in fiscal 2024, and reaching full conversion in fiscal 2026. Currently, 97% of electricity comes from solar and wind via Open Access agreements, while the remaining 3% is balanced through International Renewable Energy Certificates. The company has achieved zero market-based Scope 2 emissions, avoiding approximately 35,110 metric tonnes of CO2 annually. Across the entire organization, nearly 80% of total electricity consumption now comes from renewable sources.
This sustainability milestone enhances the company's ESG profile and reduces operational cost risks associated with conventional energy price volatility. It positions Sai Life Sciences favourably with global pharma clients increasingly prioritizing sustainable supply chains, though it does not directly impact near-term revenue or earnings.
