Sai Life Sciences announced that its Bidar campus, which includes Unit IV (flagship API manufacturing facility) and Unit VI (animal health API manufacturing facility), now operates entirely on renewable power. This makes it the first facility within an Indian CRDMO to achieve 100% renewable electricity usage. The transition was phased over several years, growing from 21% renewable energy in 2020 to 100% in fiscal 2026. Currently, 97% of the site's electricity comes from solar and wind through Open Access agreements, with the remaining 3% balanced through International Renewable Energy Certificates. Nearly 80% of the company's total electricity consumption across all operations now comes from renewable sources, resulting in zero market-based Scope 2 emissions and avoiding approximately 35,110 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
This sustainability milestone enhances the company's ESG profile and positions it favourably with global pharma clients increasingly focused on supplier sustainability. While not directly impacting near-term financials, it strengthens Sai Life Sciences' competitive positioning in the CRDMO sector.
