Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited has executed a Forest Lease Agreement (FLA) with the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Government of Karnataka, on 8 April 2026. The agreement grants the company rights to divert 2.4314 hectares of forest land in Deogiri, Swamimalai Forest Block, Sandur Taluk, Ballari District, for establishing a Downhill Conveyor Pipe System (DCS). This DCS will transport iron ore from Kammathuru Iron Ore Mine to PMBR (BMM) siding. The FLA incorporates all conditions from the prior approval received from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 3 October 2025. The agreement has been registered with the Sub-Registrar Office at Sandur.
This is a regulatory milestone enabling infrastructure development for ore transportation. The execution of the FLA clears a key hurdle for the DCS project, which could improve operational efficiency by connecting the mine to rail siding, but actual project completion and any related capex details are not yet disclosed.
