Sapphire Foods India submitted its Q1FY26 corporate presentation to the exchanges. Restaurant sales rose 8% YoY to ₹7,748 Mn, but reported EBITDA fell 9% to ₹1,134 Mn with margins contracting 270 bps to 14.6%. Adjusted EBITDA dropped 22% YoY to ₹548 Mn (7.1% margin) and the company slipped to a pre-tax loss of ₹18 Mn versus a profit a year ago. The network stood at 974 restaurants (510 KFC, 454 Pizza Hut, 10 Taco Bell). KFC India restaurant EBITDA margin fell 310 bps to 15.7%, while Pizza Hut India turned negative at -2.5% (down 710 bps). Management highlighted cost-saving initiatives (zero-based budgeting, PACE SETTER programme, smaller store formats) and flagged intent to explore acquisitions, supported by net cash of ₹2,450 Mn.
Weak Q1 print, especially the Pizza Hut margin slip into negative territory, is likely to weigh on sentiment. Investors will watch for evidence that the cost and store-format initiatives translate into a margin recovery in upcoming quarters.
