SBEC Sugar's board (meeting held August 12, 2025) approved standalone and consolidated unaudited results for Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025). The company swung to a standalone net loss of Rs. 2,338.35 lakhs (vs profit of Rs. 4,547.65 lakhs in Q4 FY25 and loss of Rs. 975.52 lakhs in Q1 FY25), with revenue from operations rising to Rs. 11,715.13 lakhs. Consolidated net loss was Rs. 2,604.91 lakhs on revenue of Rs. 11,987.53 lakhs, with loss per share of Rs. 5.47. Statutory auditors issued a qualified review report because the company did not book Rs. 1,263.31 lakhs in interest on overdue cane dues for sugar season 2024-25. The board also re-appointed Mrs. Kumkum Modi (related to promoters Umesh, Abhishek and Jayesh Modi) as Non-Executive Director on turning 75, appointed Soniya Gupta & Associates as secretarial auditors for five years, and re-appointed M.K. Singhal & Co. as cost auditors for FY26.
The sharp swing into losses, a qualified auditor opinion, an ongoing cane-dues recovery order from the High Court, and a large exposure to Modi Industries Ltd (Rs. 14,685.98 lakhs with fully eroded net worth) are red flags that could pressure the stock, though the sugar business is highly seasonal so weak Q1 results are not unusual.
