SBI Life Insurance has announced a planned leadership transition at the President level. Mr. Santosh Chacko has been appointed as President – Business Strategy with effect from April 6, 2026; he currently serves as Zonal Director – East Zone and brings 28 years of experience, including prior stints at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. Mr. Abhijit Gulanikar, the current President – Business Strategy, will be re-designated as President – Operations & IT (Designate) from April 6, 2026, and will fully assume the Operations & IT role from June 1, 2026. This move follows the upcoming superannuation (retirement) of Mr. Durgadas G, the current President – Operations & IT, on May 31, 2026. The changes were approved by the Board on April 6, 2026, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
This is a smooth, planned succession with no disruption to leadership. The transition is internal and continuity-focused, which should be viewed positively by shareholders. Material impact on stock price is unlikely as CEO and board positions remain unchanged.
