SEBI has barred former Axis Mutual Fund chief dealer Viresh Joshi from securities markets for 7 years in a front-running case, along with several other individuals and entities banned for 5 and 3 years. The regulator ordered disgorgement of about Rs 30.56 crore in unlawful gains, to be transferred to the Investor Protection and Education Fund, along with 12 percent annual interest from the end of the investigation period. The scheme, active between September 2021 and March 2022, involved Joshi sharing non-public order information with Kurani who placed trades ahead of Axis MF orders through multiple connected accounts from Dubai, with the highest individual gains at Visa Capital Partners of Rs 14.07 crore.
