Sebi eyes margin trading overhaul, tighter broker capital rules

SEBI has proposed an overhaul of margin trading rules, including raising the minimum net-worth floor for brokers to 5 crore rupees from current levels. The regulator also plans to reject lower cash collateral margins and introduce a 30-day window for brokers to manage restricted stocks on client portfolios.
