Sedemac Mechatronics Limited has disclosed receiving GST Show Cause Notices from the Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department of Tamil Nadu. The notices cover FY 2022-23 and FY 2023-24 under Section 73 of the CGST/SGST Act, 2017. The total tax demand is ₹2,13,60,504 with additional penalties of ₹21,36,049, bringing the total potential liability to ₹2,34,96,553. The allegations include short payment of tax under Reverse Charge Mechanism, improper reversal of output tax on credit notes, excess input tax credit claimed, and violation of Rule 138 for FY 2022-23. The company received the notices on 20 May 2026 and plans to file objections and attend a personal hearing before 9 June 2026.
The company states it does not expect material financial impact as it will contest the notices. However, the total demand of ₹2.35 crore across two financial years could create uncertainty around cash flows if the tax department rules against the company.
