Sensex drops 238 points, Nifty 50 ends at 24,188. What drove the market down today?

Indian benchmarks fell for the second straight session on 21 July as Middle East tensions and rising crude oil prices weighed on sentiment. The Sensex closed 238 points or 0.31 percent lower at 77,470.11, while the Nifty 50 settled at 24,187.70, down 51 points or 0.21 percent. Midcap and smallcap indices bucked the trend, rising 0.30 percent and 0.53 percent respectively on healthy Q1 earnings expectations.
